FRP Panels Calgary

FRP Panels Calgary: Smooth and Pebble Wall Panels, Trims and Adhesive

Paint chips. Drywall swells. Grout lines turn grey. If you have ever tried to keep a busy kitchen, shop or wash bay clean, you know how quickly ordinary wall finishes give up. That is why more Calgary builders and property owners are switching to FRP panels. Paradise Building Supplies stocks Stabilit fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) panels, trims and adhesive at our Calgary location, so the whole wall system can go on one order.

What Are FRP Panels?

FRP stands for fibreglass reinforced plastic. Each panel is a thin sheet of resin strengthened with glass fibres, which makes it tough yet light enough for one person to carry. The face is non-porous, so water, grease and cleaning products stay on the surface instead of soaking in. You bond the sheet to a sound backing such as drywall or plywood, then close the joints and corners with matching trim.

What We Stock

  • Smooth panels: a flat, glossy face that wipes down in seconds.
  • Pebble panels: a fine texture that helps hide scuffs and fingerprints.
  • FRP adhesive: matched to the panels, so you are not guessing at the hardware store.
  • Trims and accessories: finishing pieces for joints, corners and edges.
  • Sheet sizes: 4 x 8 ft and 4 x 10 ft, with white always in stock. Custom sizes and colours can be arranged on request, though some conditions apply.

Our panels come from Stabilit, and you can read about the manufacturer at Stabilit America. Our team can answer product questions by phone before you commit to a full order.

Smooth or Pebble?

Choose smooth where hygiene is the priority and surfaces get washed constantly, such as food prep areas. Choose pebble where walls take knocks and you want scuffs to disappear into the texture, such as garages, workshops and back-of-house corridors.

Where FRP Panels Earn Their Keep

  • Commercial kitchens and food prep rooms, where walls are washed daily
  • Washrooms, change rooms and laundry areas, where humidity never really leaves
  • Garages, shops and wash bays, where road salt, slush and pressure washing are part of a Calgary winter
  • Basements and utility rooms, where a moisture-resistant surface beats painted board
  • Schools, clinics and care facilities that need surfaces that clean easily

Class A or Class C?

Fire performance of interior finishes is commonly measured with the ASTM E84 surface burning test (see ASTM International). Class A panels have lower flame spread than Class C. Plenty of general-purpose jobs use Class C, but hospitals, schools and some commercial corridors may call for Class A. Check your drawings or ask your local building authority first; the model codes themselves are published through the National Research Council of Canada. Then tell us the rating your project needs and we will confirm availability before you order.

Installing FRP Panels: The Short Version

  1. Prepare the wall. It should be flat, dry, clean and firmly fixed. Patch holes and knock down bumps, because FRP shows what is underneath.
  2. Let the panels settle. Leave them in the room for a day or so before installing.
  3. Cut and drill. Use a fine-tooth blade, and pre-drill any fastener holes slightly oversize so the sheet can move.
  4. Glue it up. Spread adhesive with the notched trowel the manufacturer recommends, press the panel on and roll from the centre outward.
  5. Trim and seal. Fit trim at joints and corners, keep the small expansion gap the instructions call for, and seal the edges with quality caulking and sealant.

Always follow the manufacturer’s written instructions over any general guide. Need fasteners or other accessories? Pick them up in the same trip.

FAQs

What size FRP panels do you stock in Calgary?
We keep 4 x 8 ft and 4 x 10 ft white sheets in stock, along with trims. Custom sizes and colours are available on request, with some conditions.

Can FRP panels go directly over drywall?
Usually, yes, as long as the surface is clean, dry, flat and sound. Bond the panel with the adhesive the manufacturer specifies.

Are FRP panels waterproof?
The panel face resists water and won’t soak it up. Seams and edges are the weak points, so use proper trim and sealant at every joint and corner.

Can I paint FRP panels?
Generally no. The smooth surface doesn’t hold paint well, so pick the colour and texture you want up front.

What is the difference between Class A and Class C FRP?
Both are rated under ASTM E84. Class A has lower flame spread than Class C. Your project requirements decide which you need.

Do you deliver FRP panels?
We offer pickup or delivery. Call the Calgary line to confirm timing and availability for your order.
